Volunteer Emergency Management Plan Implementation

Hurricane season starts June 1 and continues through November. Your Volunteer Emergency Management Committee is made up of over 100 volunteers including Neighborhood Captains and their team members, Medical team members and Security. In addition to this group, over 200 of your neighbors have agreed to help by sharing their time, talents and equipment in the aftermath of a storm.

The key to our Emergency Management implementation is your Neighborhood Captains and their team members. After a storm they will be the first responders to review your personal situation and damage to your home. They will contact the medical or security teams as required. The neighborhood teams will also be clearing out debris so that we can access all homes with emergency vehicles.

After an emergency, most likely a hurricane, the east gate will be locked down and guards will be on duty 24/7 at the main and north gates. A roving armed guard will also be available to help protect the property from vandals.

The activity center will be the emergency plan headquarters for all volunteer coordination efforts. This building has been designed to withstand 200mph winds and will have a portable generator to insure electrical power if all power is out.

Each home was provided with an Emergency Plan kit. The “Security/Volunteer Preparedness Forms” were to be filled out and returned to a neighborhood team member. Please fill out this form. If you do not want to volunteer, that is okay. We need your forms, especially your current contact information. Your neighborhood team will still evaluate your situation and residence. If you have misplaced your form, additional forms are available at the Master Association office, from your neighborhood team member or you may click HERE for a copy of the form.

Please make your home storm proof if you are going away during this period. Please remove all items from your lanai and any other objects on the outside of your home that could become projectiles in a high wind, i.e. flower pots, hoses, fountains, etc.

Thank you for your cooperation in putting this plan together and let’s hope we have a hurricane season with no major storms.
