Introducing Critters’ Corner!!

Want to know more about our local critters?  Critters’ Corner is a feature on the Master Association  Website.  Here you’ll find information on alligators, bob cats and panthers, raccoons, our many birds, other wildlife, and of course BATS!  (click here)

We will feature photos of some of our wildlife neighbors.

One word for the four-footed creatures we see around our community: ENJOY!  We frequently hear that trappers are called to remove animals when they trespass on our properties; sometimes even if they do not.

We've received calls from alarmed members if a critter is spotted, asking whom they should call.  Be aware, when you call trappers, you are imposing a death sentence upon the animal. And during certain times of the year you are not only killing the one trapped, but its babies as well. Relax and enjoy the animals. Take pictures if you can. Animals, even alligators, are part of the charm of our community. Enjoy them!

The photo below is of a baby raccoon we were fortunate to find after its mother was killed by a trapper.  The baby has been brought to the Wildlife Center of Venice which will release it once it’s able to live on its own.

For more information on this center, go to its website, www.WildlifeCenterofVenice.org

Do you have any photos of critters you’d like to share?  If so, email them to our webmaster by clicking HERE and we’ll try to include your critter in Critters' Corner.
